BIG BAY 4WD RAINFOREST TOUR

If you love wildlife, rainforests and adventure, this full day tour is for you. Our adventure starts when we turn off the main road just before Port Olry and make our way through rough dirt tracks and mountain villages until we reach the isloated village of Matantas (approx 1.5hrs), on the shores of magnificent Big Bay north Santo. From there we meet our local guides and set off into the rainforest, part of the massive Vatthe Conservation Area, Vanuatu's only recognised 'national park'. Discover massive banyan trees, giant fruit bats and rare birds. The walk takes approx. 2 hours before returning to Matantas where you can cool down in the nearby river or bake on the black sand volcanic beach. On the way back to town we stop in at beautiful Lonnoc Beach for a swim and a snorkel (optional lunch/drinks available here from a local restaurant or you can bring your own). Stury shoes, mosquito repellent and plenty of water is a must for this tour, along with a sense of adventure.
